SCULPT is proud to announce we offer Kybella, which is an FDA-approved injection that gets rid of fat in the chin and neck. Kybella is made of deoxycholic acid, which is a naturally occurring molecule in the body that destroys fat cells in the area most people refer to as their “double chin.”
Kybella is a non-surgical option for people wanting to get rid of fat below the chin, also known as submental fullness. This fullness under the neck can be caused by genetics, weight gain, or aging. It make one appear older or heavier than he or she is. Kybella is a great option for those who eat well and exercise, but cannot get rid of the pesky fullness under the chin. Kybella is the first and only FDA-approved injectable treatment to improve the appearance of moderate to severe submental fullness by physically destroying fat cells.
Q. How does Kybella work?
When injected into the fat beneath your chin, Kybella destroys fat cells. Once destroyed, those cells cannot store or accumulate fat. In other words, once it is destroyed, that fat cell is gone for good! The active ingredient in Kybella is deoxycholic acid, a natural molecule in the body that aids in the breakdown and absorption of dietary fat. Fat cleared from the treatment area is then processed through your body’s natural metabolism. Most people see results in about 6 to 8 weeks.
Q. How is Kybella administered?
Kybella is given during a 30-minute in-office visit. You will first ice the treatment area. Then, our provider will mark where the injections will be. Finally, our provider will give you a series of injections into the desired treatment area. The injection portion of the appointment takes five to ten minutes.
Q. Do the injections hurt?
Most people describe the injections as “warm and tingly.” Our providers will give you ice to help numb the treatment area before your injection.
Q. What can I expect after my Kybella injection?
Most patients swell for about three days after their Kybella injection. Then, the swelling will go down and you will begin to see the neck area get smaller. Some patients report bruising and tenderness to the touch in the treatment area. Some say the treated area feels hard in the weeks after the injection. This is normal, as your body is responding to the active ingredient in Kybella.
Q. Should I take any medicine prior to coming in for my Kybella appointment at SCULPT?
No, you do not need to take any medicine prior to your Kybella appointment. However, if you are concerned about tenderness or puffiness post-treatment, Dr. Stanley recommends taking ibuprofen before your Kybella appointment at SCULPT Cosmetic Surgery.
Q. How many treatment sessions will I need?
Most people see their desired results within two injections. Dr. Stanley recommends a series of two injections, six weeks apart. Those with heavy neck areas may find three injections produce their desired result.
Q. How much does Kybella cost at SCULPT Contemporary Cosmetic Surgery in Omaha, Nebraska?
Kybella costs $1200 for a series of two injections, spaced about six weeks apart.
