“Mommy Makeover” is a term we do not often use at SCULPT. While we do plenty of combination procedures at SCULPT Cosmetic Surgery with gorgeous results, the name “Mommy Makeover” doesn’t quite sit nicely with many women. There’s no doubt “Mommy Makeover” is a catchy phrase. It is used all the time in cosmetic marketing here in Omaha and across the country. However, “Mommy Makeover” can be derogatory to some who have undergone the beautiful experience of childbirth and being a mother.
At SCULPT Cosmetic Surgery, Laser & Aesthetic in Omaha, Nebraska, we are of the mindset that you don’t need a makeover just because you are mom, and you don’t need to be a mom to want a makeover! Dr. Gerard J. Stanley, Jr. and the staff at SCULPT are here to promote harmony and help you achieve your aesthetic goals, whether you are a mom or not!
Q. What is a Mommy Makeover?
A Mommy Makeover refers to a combination of cosmetic surgeries done at the same time. For example, a tummy tuck and breast augmentation, or a breast lift, liposuction, and arm lift. YES, we do combination procedures at SCULPT. In fact, the majority of our procedures done at SCULPT are combination procedures. While there is no limitation to the number of combinations one can do, there are limitations on how many procedures one can safely undergo in one day, at one time. Most of the time, combination procedures, or Mommy Makeovers, can be done in the same surgical session; however, a complimentary consultation with Dr. Gerard J. Stanley, Jr. will determine your surgical plan. Your safety and well-being are our top priority at SCULPT Cosmetic Surgery.
Our most common Mommy Makeover procedure would be a tummy tuck and breast augmentation or lift. After childbirth and breast-feeding, many women notice sagging skin and a difference in fat distribution that was not there before they had children. With a combination of liposuction and surgical techniques, Dr. Stanley is able to restore harmony in a safe way that produces beautiful results.
Q. What Makes SCULPT’s Mommy Makeovers Safer & Different?
At SCULPT, our Mommy Makeovers involve less downtime than they would at other cosmetic or plastic surgical offices in the Omaha area. Dr. Stanley uses the Avelar approach to his tummy tucks. An Avelar Abdominoplasty is a liposuction-assisted tummy tuck. Your abs/flanks liposuction is included in the price of your tummy tuck at SCULPT. By removing fat before removing unwanted, hanging skin, Dr. Stanley is able to be more gentle with the tissue. Because of this, you will not need drains during your tummy tuck recovery. You will also not have staples, as Dr. Stanley cosmetically sutures all layers of your incision. With no drains and no staples, your recovery is significantly reduced, and it is much more comfortable than traditional tummy tuck procedures.
Dr. Stanley also uses tumescent fluid to assist in his breast augmentation cases, again, allowing him to be gentler with the breast tissue and causing the least amount of stress to the surrounding areas. Our breast augmentation patients are generally back to their normal routines within one week.
Finally, Dr. Stanley opts for IV Anesthesia, rather than general anesthesia, for his Mommy Makeover cases. This is a MUCH safer option and comes as a relief to mothers who come in desiring surgery, but have young children. With IV sedation, also known as “Goldilocks Anesthesia,” you are in a light sleep during your surgery. However, if Dr. Stanley or one of our surgical staff members interact with you, you will be able to talk back and come back to consciousness, comfortably, if need be. Our licensed, certified nurse anesthetist (CRNA), manages your medication during surgery, so you maintain comfort during your procedure.
Q. Do Mommy Makeovers Always Involve Surgery?
While Mommy Makeovers are generally marketed as surgical, SCULPT also offers many non-surgical options to achieve your aesthetic goals. We offer TruSculpt non-surgical body contouring, injectable facial rejuvenation, and laser resurfacing. While these can also be done in conjunction with surgery, they most definitely can be done on their own as well!
Q. How Much do Mommy Makeovers Cost?
It depends on the combination of cosmetic procedures and treatments you are having, but plan on spending at least $8,000 to $10,000, as you are investing in more than one surgery to attain your cosmetic goals.
