SCULPT Cosmetic Surgery in Omaha, Nebraska is proud to be the first and only surgical facility in the Midwest to offer the Avelar Abdominoplasty. This approach includes liposuction with the tummy tuck. Dr. Gerard J. Stanley, Jr. uses this approach to his tummy tucks because it is safer for the patient, and it significantly reduces downtime. Our patients can stand up and walk immediately after surgery. Dr. Stanley and SCULPT Cosmetic Surgery have consistently been awarded “Best Tummy Tuck” by Omaha Magazine. Dr. Stanley has people travel from all over the country for his beautiful tummy tuck results.
Dr. Stanley does not use staples and he does not use drains for his abdominoplasties. The liposuction-assisted technique allows for a much more gentler, ginger removal of the unwanted, hanging skin.
SCULPT’s tummy tuck is a popular option for men and women to get rid of uncomfortable hanging skin and excess tissue to flatten their mid-section. We are the go-to place for working people and busy parents, because the downtime following Dr. Stanley’s tummy tucks is just a matter of days, compared to a matter of weeks, as is associated with traditional tummy tuck methods. We encourage you to walk post-surgery, and you will not need drains post-surgery, as you do after a traditional tummy tuck
The secret to the Avelar Abdominoplasty is that it is a liposuction-assisted tummy tuck. This tummy tuck technique utilizes liposuction in conjunction with a traditional tummy tuck to minimize recovery time while maximizing results. By removing fat via liposuction instead of surgically excising it, there is less trauma to the surrounding area. Dr. Stanley then cosmetically sutures each layer of your incision, resulting in a gorgeous, smaller tummy with less downtime and risk.
Tummy tuck patients undergo IV anesthesia, or “Goldilocks” anesthesia during their breast augmentation surgery at SCULPT. You will be in a light sleep during your surgery, but can comfortably interact with our surgical staff if needed. Our licensed, certified nurse anesthetist (CRNA) will safely manage your medicine and sedation and make sure you are comfortable during your surgery. This method avoids the risks of general anesthesia. Your safety and well-being are our top priority.
Many of our patients who have had tummy tucks at SCULPT Cosmetic Surgery in Omaha, Nebraska marvel at how different their experience was, compared to their friends who have had traditional procedures. SCULPT patients are up and walking within minutes of their surgery. In fact, Dr. Stanley encourages activity after surgery. Many of our patients are back to their normal lifestyle within a week. Conversely, traditional tummy tuck procedures have a six to eight week recovery time.
Q. Who is a good candidate for a tummy tuck?
A good candidate for a tummy tuck is a non-smoker, age 25 to 65, who desires a tighter abdomen. This person has loose, excess skin on the abdomen that will not go away with diet, exercise, or liposuction alone.
Q. What is the downtime associated with a tummy tuck at SCULPT Contemporary Cosmetic Surgery?
Unlike other tummy tuck techniques where you are down for six weeks, SCULPT patients are up and walking right after surgery. Dr. Stanley tells patients to rest for 5 days to one week following surgery; however, we have had patients go back to work after three days. The reason for the lesser downtime is that Dr. Stanley performs his tummy tucks with local anesthesia. You are conscious throughout the entire procedure, but many of our patients do fall asleep during surgery. Because we are eliminating the risks associated with general anesthesia, patients are able to return to their daily routine rather quickly.
Q. Will I have a scar after getting a tummy tuck?
Yes, you will have a scar after a tummy tuck on your lower abdomen. Dr. Stanley will put the scar under the panty line, so it is not visible in clothing or swimsuits. Dr. Stanley is known for his minimal scarring. If you are concerned with scarring, you do have the option to purchase a microneedling package. Microneedling with PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma) is performed by either our Licensed Esthetician or our RN. It helps break up scar tissue and generate new tissue in the desired area.
